A New Year RUN.

New Year’s Day was the day that was going to kick off my training.  It was SO easy saying that a couple of weeks ago… almost in complete defiance… I did nothing remotely athletic for the last 2 1/2 weeks.

I had January 1st circled on my calendar as THE DAY to dust my sneakers off and GET MOVING!  And then today – it was here. 2010.

So… this morning I set off.

I can honestly say that I have not run since September.  I was excited to get “back out there,” but also terrified.  This is a challenge I am totally putting myself up to in 2010…

I ran 2 miles this morning.

I can say – it KICKED MY BUTT.  But I did it.  I did it with my Livestrong gear on… enjoying the beautiful snowy morning and embracing the New Year.

Nobody was out this morning.  It was just me.  My iPod wasn’t charged up, so I set out with nothing – just me and my inner thoughts.  You know what?  It felt good.  It felt REAL good.  It wasn’t like I ran 10 miles or anything earth-shattering… but I did what I could do on Day 1.

And so… my running journey has begun…

Eat.  Check.

Blog.  Check.

RUN.  Check.  Check.

  1. Yay! Great post. As much as I love music, I do love to run with nothing by myself sometimes! So therapeutic!

  2. I can’t wait to get out myself and log some miles in the snow!! Way to go. Happy New Year.

  3. I love your honesty, Audrey. 2010… bring it on! :)

  4. Hooray Audrey! So proud of you!

  5. Good for you for getting out and doing it! I look forward to following along!

  6. Go AUDREY! Today is my day 1 but I’m setting off with my ipod in tow.

  7. Nice one. We don’t have snow in Berkeley so its easy to pretend that a pristine snowy run alone with your thoughts is glorious… rather than a freezing cold excuse to hide in bed. Way to go.
