A lot of people ask me why I’m on Twitter. Next time someone does, I will point to this post as an example. This morning, feeling rather lazy and cozy inside my office but knowing very well that it has been exactly 9 days since my last run (to my credit, I was in the Bahamas for four of those days…), I posed this question:

And here was the response to that tweet, as well as to my post-run tweet dedicating my 3.9 mile run to all those who motivated me out the door:

Hi Christine,
I love the blog! I’m mom and a runner from Toronto, and I’ll follow #bostonmamas in case you need an extra shout
I too have been dared into a run by twitterers. And it works every time.
This is awesome! Love the running motivation and running communities on twitter.
Good to know this is all I have to do to get running!! I need to try that! Those tweets were great. What a good twitter support system you have!
My favorite, of course, is AntiOprahWoody. What a riot!
Next time I am contemplating, I will try the Twitter support network just to see what folks say.
Love it! I too turn to Twitter for a little push when I’m on the fence about running.
And the other day, when I got the necessary push, but ended up slipping on the ice on my driveway and having a nasty fall, I also got a lot of lovely “feel better soon” messages which did make me feel better.
I love Twitter. And hate those people who keep on saying “I don’t get it.” I’m tired of trying to explain it, instead I just give them my deathglare and go back to Tweeting.
