Because Snow Is Inevitable Where I Live

This morning I was geared up to run, knowing that today would be the warmest day of the week (use of the word “warmest” is relative…). Then I poked my head out the door and checked the weather online. The roads looked alternately slushy and icy and the real feel temperature was in the teens.

Bummer.

It’s not that I’m a total wimp; I am willing to brave clear roads in frigid temperatures (as I did last week), but I live in an urban area. When it snows, sidewalks often are ignored, road shoulder space shrinks, and my worry shifts from being able to finish the distance to making it home without slipping and breaking something or getting run over.

In situations like these, I swap up my routine, and today I got my dose of cardio from Jillian Michaels’ Banish Fat Boost Metabolism. It’s a great aerobic workout on days where you can’t get outside. Because snow is inevitable where I live and back up plans are essential.

  1. I bet Jillian kicks your bum even on no-run days too. Stay warm in Boston!

  2. I love that you at least still worked out! When I see snow on the road, I just bundle up and say I’ll try again tomorrow. You’re inspiring. And now we have a goal that is in the not too distant future, so I’ve got to make something happen! Way to go!
