Trying to Train with an Injury

A couple of weeks ago I was cross-training and injured my back. I’m sure many of you know about back pain. Ugh! It’s one of those injuries where you just can’t move, at all.

I’ve tried my best to do all the necessary steps for recovery: I got all cracked out from my chiropractor (who’s a genius), alternated hot and cold on the area, and learned stretches. I’m hoping that within a couple more weeks, with sheer determination, that I’ll be back to my old active self. As injuries can really put a damper on your mental and physical self!

And I’m really determined to get back on track as I want to run a Fall Fun Run race with all of you.

What injuries have you had and how did you cope? I need some “you can get through this” encouragement!

  1. Marie, have you tried yoga? I am a huge fan of it for healing, well, everything (while also strengthening and toning!). I need to get back to alternating it with my running actually.

  2. I’m slowly getting to the point where yoga would be great. I’m not able to bend in half, although I can do the squat motion. But it’s getting better and I know yoga is key!

I have been swimming and that’s helping a ton, keeping me active!
